21/04/2010 - More research is needed on ‘brain-training’ computer games

A study published in Nature yesterday, suggests that ‘brain training’ games don’t boost mental skills. The lead researcher “concedes that his findings don’t necessarily mean that training in young children or elderly patients is pointless” and that “someone needs to go out and test it”. Our research is doing just this. We are looking to see if auditory training improves listening, mental agility and tinnitus in people with hearing loss. Early results are looking promising. We will be reporting on our final results in the late summer.

Check out the Auditory Habilitation in Hearing Loss and Tinnitus research pages for more information.
